Terms of Service

typwrtr is a desktop voice-dictation app for Windows (with a macOS build in progress). You hold a push-to-talk key, speak, and typwrtr transcribes your speech into whatever text field your cursor is in. It also offers Ask & Save — an on-device voice memory you can save snippets to and ask questions of. The app talks to a small cloud backend we run on Cloudflare for sign-in, transcription relay, subscription state, and AI answers.

"typwrtr", "we", "us", and "our" refer to the makers of typwrtr. "You" refers to the person or organisation using it.

• You must be at least 13 years old to use typwrtr, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live.
• If you use typwrtr on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation to these terms.

• The free tier works without an account. To start a Pro subscription you sign in with Google — we receive your Google account id, email, name, and profile picture (see the Privacy page for detail).
• You're responsible for activity under your account. Keep your Google account secure; tell us promptly if you suspect misuse.
• One account is for one person or one organisation. Don't share credentials to circumvent plan limits.

• Free. Download and use typwrtr with a cap of 300 transcribed words per day, all 22 Indic languages, native scripts, push-to-talk, and up to 5 Ask & Save calls per day.
• Pro. An auto-renewing monthly subscription — ₹249/month in India (billed through Razorpay), $9/month elsewhere (billed through Dodo Payments). Pro removes the daily word cap and raises Ask & Save to 200 calls per day, plus self-learning vocabulary, priority transcription speed, a custom dictionary, and email support.
• Plan contents and limits can change as the product evolves; if a change materially reduces what a paid plan includes, we'll give notice before it takes effect for your billing cycle.
• Team and enterprise arrangements are handled separately — contact us.

• Pro is a subscription. It renews automatically each month using the payment method you authorised with Razorpay or Dodo Payments, until you cancel.
• Prices are shown in your region's currency and may change; we'll give notice before a price change affects your renewals.
• You can cancel any time from the app (Settings → Account → Cancel subscription) or by emailing us. Cancellation stops the next renewal — your Pro access continues until the end of the billing period you've already paid for.
• We never see or store your card or bank details. The payment provider handles checkout end-to-end and sends us only a subscription status signal.

Because the free tier lets you evaluate typwrtr before paying, Pro subscriptions are generally non-refundable once a billing period has started. If something went wrong on our side — a failed charge, a double charge, an outage that made Pro unusable — email us and we'll make it right. Statutory refund rights in your jurisdiction still apply.

You agree not to:

• Use typwrtr to create, store, or transmit anything unlawful, infringing, or harmful, or to dictate content you have no right to.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app or its cloud backend, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
• Abuse, overload, or attempt to circumvent the relay, quotas, or rate limits — including by scripting the app or sharing accounts.
• Resell, sublicense, or rebrand typwrtr without our written permission.
• Use typwrtr to capture other people's speech without the consent required where you are.

• Transcription is best-effort. Speech-to-text is probabilistic. typwrtr will misrecognise words, numbers, names, and punctuation — especially with background noise, accents, or code-mixed speech. Always review transcribed text before relying on it, and never use it unreviewed for anything legal, medical, financial, or otherwise consequential.
• Ask & Save answers are AI-generated. Answers are produced by large language models and may be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. They are not professional advice. Treat them as a starting point, not a source of truth.

• Your content is yours. Your transcripts, your voice memory, your corrections — you own them. typwrtr claims no ownership over what you dictate or save. Most of it never leaves your machine (see the Privacy page).
• Our software is ours. The typwrtr app, website, branding, and backend are our intellectual property. These terms grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use typwrtr — not to own it.
• If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them to improve typwrtr without obligation to you.

typwrtr depends on services we don't control: Google (sign-in), Sarvam AI (speech-to-text), OpenRouter and its model providers (Ask & Save answers), Razorpay and Dodo Payments (billing), and Cloudflare (hosting and edge data). Your use of typwrtr is also subject to those providers' own terms. We choose them carefully but aren't responsible for their acts or outages.

We work to keep typwrtr available and accurate, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may need downtime for maintenance or because an upstream provider is down. typwrtr's cloud features (transcription, Ask answers, sign-in) require an internet connection.

typwrtr is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind — express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. You use typwrtr at your own risk and remain responsible for reviewing its output.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, typwrtr and its makers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or losses arising from transcription errors or AI answers. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for typwrtr in the 12 months before the claim — or, if you only used the free tier, to ₹0.

• You can stop using typwrtr at any time. Uninstalling the app and cancelling Pro ends your relationship with us.
• We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, abuse the service, or put the backend or other users at risk. For serious or unlawful misuse we may act without notice.
• Sections that by their nature should survive — content ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law — survive termination.

We may update these terms as typwrtr evolves. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest version, and material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes. Continuing to use typwrtr after a change means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them — without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
